This week we explored different ways of generating graphical content. From AI generated images to image altering techniques like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva etc. All different techniques have their advantages and disadvantages. AI generated images can be very creative, they give some new perspective on your prompt and usually create something unique to what you were thinking. Additionally, it is a. very low-effort method. You can quickly put in a prompt and get a unique image in the matter of seconds. That being said, sometimes you need to refine your prompt a little before you end up at your desired picture. Furthermore, AI generated images usually struggle with certain aspects like making up random words, struggling with face creation or hand creation. This can result in some of the images created being weird looking, or having weird, or inappropriate words. Other students in our class expressed that some of their AI generated images were offensive which is another consideration to make when using AI. Overall, I think AI is a strong tool for generating graphical content and you can always get it to refine your search to get closer to your desired end product.
Other technologies such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop are also very strong. Using Adobe Illustrator, one can create very powerful images or using Photoshop one can edit images to their liking. These techniques require more technical skill and practice to generate high quality images. I personally have used Adobe Illustrator quite a bit and I still don’t know how to explore all aspects of the program. However, an expert with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop can create amazing images and utilize the program to its full potential. I would say the disadvantages of these tools are that they are much more time consuming and require more technical skill.
